A quick history of the Anno 1900. First established in 1890 as winter garden of the Hotel Chemnitius in 1890, it soon became one of the entertainment centers of the town. In 1920 it became the Chemnitus-Schaenke.During World War II it was a distribution point for groceries and clothing. After the war it briefly existed as Restaurant Arcadia. From the fifties to the eighties Franz Liszt music school used it as mensa. Until 1989 it was a DDR Bistro. After privatization in 1991 it was rebuilt after the old building plans and, in May of 1994, opened as Anno 1900.After further building it resumed the winter garden tradition as Cafe-Restaurant. And I must say, my mousse was well prepared and the young waiter was very professional and attentive.
